There’s Only Two Warren Feeney’s?

Cardiff City striker Warren Feeney has found an ertwhile unknown talent for scoring goals.


It appears difficult to envisage that the striker, currently farmed out on loan to Swansea City, is the same Warren Feeney banging in the goals at the Liberty stadium, and now scoring in an International match.


Northern Ireland scored a memorable win against Denmark this weekend, with Feeney heading the first N.I. goal, add this to his 4 goals in 5 starts (plus 3 subs appearances) for the Jacks and you have to wonder whether this really is the same player.



Feeney could not be criticised for his effort, work-rate or determination. Far from it. In fact his tenacity is impressive, but he was brought to Cardiff City when we needed a goalscorer and eyebrows were rightly raised over his poor goals ratio and lack of goals for previous club Luton Town.


He ended last season, and started this as a first choice striker but looked somewhat lost. He rarely got into dangerous positions, and posed little threat to oppositions. Add to that an inability to shoot, who can forget the unbelievable miss against Southend?, and we would rightly put the signing down to a poor decision and panic buy.



However, his recent record shows that he has something, and confidence may just play a part. Our strikers are misfiring, and whilst I can’t see Feeney getting back into the side, he may get a subs appearance or two if he returns. Either way, his current form is impressive and suggests we failed to get the best out of him. Either he retuns and hopefully has an impact, or, at least he will attract interest from other clubs as a direct result of his Swansea City spell and good run.


Well done Warren, keep it up – still a Bluebird for now.
