Amongst Cardiff City fans everywhere, I’m sure I’m not the only one who last night and this morning was open to abusive banter, text messages and the like from happy Jacks after Swansea City won 1-0 last night.

It’s expected, par for the course and I’d certainly have done the same if we’d won (though perhaps not quite so much as our ‘little brothers’ from the West!).

However, I was more than suprised to receive an e-mail from a Swansea City fan into the Vital Cardiff inbox this morning. For understandable reasons, he didnt want his name published bu asked me to forward a small extract if I saw fit:

Was impressed with the Cardiff fans last night who did themselves proud with noise despite bein heavily outnumbered in what turned out to be an exciting and tense dderby. Whilst I would do virtually anything to win the game, I fell ashamed by the conduct of several of our players – most notably Jordi Gomez. Although I am a fan of him, and he did well yesterday, I cannot condone some of his conduct.

I appreciate the referee is a constant, but Gomez was constantly going to ground for no apparent reason contributing to a couple of bookings for your side – most obviously the sending off and the Whittingham booking.

This was not in the spirit of the game and detracted from what was otherwise a hugely enjoyable night. I’m absolutely ecstatic we won, and deserved to – there was no place for diving and gamesmanship in the Welsh derby – hopefully we wont see it in November.

Apologies. Up the Jacks !!!

Thanks to ‘M J’ for the sentiments. On the whole, I think Gomez was a little out of order but no more so than many in the game. In truth Swansea dealt with the occasion better, and despite comitting more fouls, picked up just one ‘token’ booking at the end.

After waiting 9 years for a derby, we now have just 2 months to wait for the next, and the ‘revenge’ mission….
