Cardiff City boss Dave Jones will probably have decided on his starting XI for tomorrow’s Championship opener against Southampton. However the trickiest decision to be made is undoubtedly in attack – a problem area for some time now.
A poll is open on the right of your screen asking for thoughts on the best attacking duo to start the game. Here we look at the likliest contenders:
Ross McCormack
Probably our most exciting signing and Jones had no hesitation in building him up. Most likely to start the game.
Steve Thompson
Thommo has been on the transfer list for a season, and is not a favourite of Dave Jones. His scoring record leaves much to be desired but hard-work and physical presence coupled with a solid pre-season could see the Scotsman get the nod.
Jay Bothroyd
New recruit from Wolves, but has only just joined the squad and played one pre-season friendly. He could be thrown straight in but Jones seems more likely to select Jay on the bench and allow him to adapt to the team style slowly.
Paul Parry
A winger or a striker? Both apparently and he has an excellent scoring record, including a good haul in pre-season. On form alone, he would be selected but could miss out if deemed ‘too similar’ to McCormack in style.
