Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was at a loss to explain how his side has lost a game in which they largely dominated, he told BBC Sport:

‘We should have won the game. They’ve not caused us any problems today whatsoever. Even the goal we should not have conceded and that’s lack of concentration at the back.’

‘We’d made the game easy by working really hard and you’ve got to keep the backdoor shut, but that’s what happens at all levels of football.’

‘We gave them hope and we gave them something to hang on to, which they did.’

Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws was delighted with the three points as his side battled to avoid relegation:

‘It was a pleasing win, let me tell you that. Just for the simple reason that it’s given us a huge lift looking at the table and seeing us out of the bottom three for the first time for a while.’

‘Every game becomes a cup final and we’re going to need a lot of help.’
