Rosco Ready For Cardiff City Return

Cardiff City travel to face troubled Reading midweek but could be handed a big boost for next Saturday`s clash with QPR with the news that attacker Ross McCormack is nearing a return to first team action.
McCormack started the season in blistering form with a superb opening day performance against Scunthorpe United where he was many fans` vote for man of the match. However, the next game saw him pull up in pursuit of a Whittingham pass and he was stretchered off. Tests revealed a tear to his hamstring and Rosco has not featured since.
McCormack told the SW Echo:
“It`s been murder sitting it out in the stands for the last month, a nightmare, I`ve been working in rehab, building the muscles up to be stronger again,”
“I`ll be fit for QPR and, if I don`t get the shout from the gaffer for that one, then I`ll definitely be ready for the Carling Cup tie against Aston Villa the following Wednesday.”
“I`ve just been itching to get back and the gaffer and the staff have been superb. It`s definitely a case of making up for lost time and getting back in the goals again.”

McCormack is likely to return in a midfield capacity, rather than his favoured striking role with the Chopra and Bothroyd partnership certain to be Dave Jones` pick. However, he is by no means certain to start with Peter Whittingham currently filling that role and Kelvin Etuhu producing effective and energetic performances from the bench. Whittingham has not managed to produce his best this season, and can alco compete with Chris Burke for a right wing berth – though the Scotsman has out-performed Whittingham thus far.
The return of any player of McCormack`s calibre is a boost for any Championship club and he provides another option. His creative spark and forward momentum were key to the 4-0 win over Scunthorpe United and his energy and skill are sure to cause problems for any side.
Personally, he would be first choice on the left when fully fit and on the bench until them. He and Kelvin Etuhu can provide similar threats cutting in from the left and for me, Peter Whittingham should be very concerned as to how he fits into the current team.
