Cardiff City manager Dave Jones rightly praised his team despite their 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth. The Bluebirds put in a gutsy performance and put up a stern test for their most illustrious opponents. Jones told BBC Sport:

‘It was a mistake that cost us but we gave it everything we had and that’s all I asked for,’

‘We’ve done everyone proud… it doesn’t make me feel any better but I’m very proud of my players and staff.’

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp was understandably delighted, and paid special tribute to goalscorer Kanu, and to his defence:

‘It’s a dream come true to win the FA Cup. It has been a good day.’

‘Cardiff put us under a lot of pressure and we had to deal with difficult situations. My defence was fantastic,’
