Cardiff City attacker Ross McCormack pulled up while chasing a Peter Whittingham through ball on Saturday and it was immediately clear why as he went down clutching his hamstring. Those who have suffered similar injuires exchanged looks and it was quickly clear that McCormack would have to be replaced, and that he will face a spell on the side.
After three games in the opening week to the season, the muscles are bound to be a little sore. However, Ross looked to have pulled/torn his hamstring which is always a troublesome injury. The problem will be assessed but McCormack looks set for a 2 month spell on the sidelines. Making further appearances before then would risk a costly recurrance.
This injury is hugely significant with the Scotsman looking for a move away from Cardiff City amid fears of playing ‘second fiddle’ to Chopra and ending up out of position. The Bluebirds dismissed offers from Hull City and Portsmouth but may have been tested further after an impressive McCormack disaply against Scunthorpe Utd.
Very few clubs would take a punt on a crocked striker who would still cost £4m. That means, that McCormack will remain a Cardiff City player past the transfer window deadline and will therefore be here until January at least.
