Cardiff City will play Newport County in the semi final of the FAW invitation cup, should the Bluebirds overcome LoW club Welshpool.
Newport scored an injury time winner to send an under-strength Swansea City crashing out of the cup. Although there were many big names missing for the Swans, Tate, O’Leary, Orlandi and Duffy all started the game.
Ex Cardiff City ‘flying wing-back’ Damon Searle featured for The Exiles, along with talented midfielder Jason Bowen and the cultured Lee Jarman.
Both Cardiff and Swansea crashed out early last year, The Jacks are out again and Cardiff City would have an easy win in theory, should they decide to use near full-strength sides in the competition.
