Cardiff City defender Miguel Comminges has left the club and joined Southend United on a free transfer, initially until the end of this season.

Comminges has been at Cardiff City for several seasons, but made limited impact since arriving from Swindon Town on a free transfer. The Guadeloupian has barely featured in the past 2-3 years due to lack of form and fitness, most notably a serious knee injury.

Comminges’ Cardiff career seemed to be at an end over the summer when his contract expired. However, the Bluebirds offered his a low wage short term deal, and access to the medical team and facilities – in a bid to help the full-back work back to fitness and get his career back on track.

A loan move to Carlisle United followed, as he sought to get some much needed match fitness. That has not materialised, but he will look to establish himself with new club Southend United and we wish him all the best for the future.
