Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was pleased with his side and for the fans today after the Bluebirds notched the first win at the new stadium. Dave told BBC Sport:

“We started a bit sloppy and could have been caught out. It took us 10 to 15 minutes to settle down and got a lucky goal.”

“I felt after we got the goal we played some really good football. It’s been a long time since there was 22,000 people watching Cardiff and I thought the fans deserved big credit today.”

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins was in bullish mood before the game determinedly demanding a win from his players. However, his attitude was somewhat diluted after the game:

“We had an early chance and presented Cardiff with problems until they scored.”

“Today we were given a hiding but the players must respond in the right way.
‘We know we need to defend much better but it would have been a big shock if we had taken anything from this game which gave our players a real welcome to the Championship.”
