Former manager Malky Mackay has accepted an invitation by the club’s Supporters’ Trust to become an honorary life member, and has encouraged the supporters to continue fighting for what they believe is right at the club.

In Mackay’s response to the invitation letter, our former gaffer said.

‘I absolutely loved my job, in truth I’m gutted that I’m not still there. As far as the fans are concerned, my memory will live long of their passion, commitment and welcome that myself and my staff were given. It would be an honour to be made a life member and, of course, I would accept such a thing.’

The response goes on to credit Tim Hartley for his ‘passion, thoughtfulness and clarity’ at the meeting in the boardroom that they both attended, and Mackay urged him to ‘please not give up on trying to do the right things for the club.’

Hartley himself told Wales Online that the fans know how huge a contribution Malky made to the club during his time as manager, obviously culminating in our promotion to the Premier League.

‘He had a fantastic rapport with fans and was undoubtedly one of the most popular managers in the club’s history. We we thought it was appropriate that Malky should be invited to become an honorary member of the Trust and we are delighted that Malky has accepted.’

Very nice touch from the Trust there, and cements Malky’s reputation amongst the fans for history.

This announcement of course comes following the reported words of our owner following the two one victory over Norwich City, where the press suggest Tan said.

“I am very happy with Solskjaer. He’s much better than Malky Mackay. It was an excellent win.”

Malky and Tan will continue to snipe at each other, Tan is Tan and I’ve got little time for him whereas I always will Malky. Malky’s right, we keep fighting for what we believe is right.

Credit to those involved, fantastic move – Cardiff are getting a good press with Tan’s actions anyway, but this is a brilliant move both on a PR front for the Trust’s position, but also in recognition of what Malky did for us.

    Completely agree Whitts.
