Cardiff City midifelder has rejected outright the 4 year double-your-wage contract offered to him by Peter Ridsdale. Ledley maintains he is open to a new deal, but found certain terms unacceptable within the current deal.

Ledley is out of contract next summer, and could walk away for a fraction of the £5m+ he is worth. This situation is not good for player or club and protracted negotiations can only be bad news.

Ledley’s agent has previously stated he could allow his contract to expire – a disaster for the Bluebirds who would get around £400k for one of their most saleable assets. However, Ledley was disappointed not to receive any firm bids over the summer and is concerned he may be tied into a new deal and priced out of a move to the Premiership.
