Cardiff City have done well to remain outside the relegation zone throughout the season so far and with a surprise win over title contenders Manchester City has helped build a solid platform and impressed various opponents, fans and media.

It seems that BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson is not such a fan however, and it was no surprise to see him tip City for a defeat when facing Manchester United this weekend. I think the vast majority of football followers would agree with him, however, this is somewhat of a theme for Lawro – whose predictions to date would see City bottom of the table and with the worst goal difference!

On BBC Sport, Lawrenson wrote:

Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay has got his players well drilled and well prepared for whoever they play.

Mackay and his staff obviously do loads of work on the opposition and their players follow his instructions to the letter which is great.

That gives them an outside chance against most teams, and they also have an outside chance of staying up.

I can’t remember any premiership season ever whereby every single team didn’t have an ‘outside chance’ of staying up so things would look pretty bleak for Cardiff City. Thankfully, Lawro’s predictions of just three draws (no wins) and strangely giving us just two points (!) have been some way wide of the mark so far…

But thanks for the consistent votes of confidence Mark!
