I don’t think that too many people will disagree with Filip Kiss when he says that he thinks Malky is basically better off ‘out of it’ with Cardiff. All the while Vincent Tan remains in control of the Bluebird you always fear that there’s another disaster lurking around the corner.
Kiss might not have had much involvement in the team in the end, under the man that brought him to Cardiff, but he doesn’t hold a grudge against Malky at all.
In fact it’s quite the opposite, he rates him very highly and has told the Scottish Daily Record that he thinks the best years of Malky’s managerial career are still ahead of him and he’ll better his achievements with us, which included getting Cardiff into the Premier League and taking us to the Carling Cup Final.
Malky getting sacked in the end wasn’t a surprise to Kiss, nor was it any of us. Kiss, like most of us, saw the writing was on the all.
“I wasn’t surprised to see Malky go. There have been so many changes to the club and the owner wants everything to move quickly, Kiss said.
“He demanded promotion right away and there was a lot of pressure put on the manager.
“The owner wanted things done his way so it was a difficult situation for him.
“Maybe it will be better for Malky to be at another club where he can do his work his own way. I’m sure he will do as good a job as he did at Cardiff.“
There wasn’t too much holding back by Kiss, as he continued to be critical of Tan but had to hold back a little as he’s still got another 18-months left on his Cardiff contract. I’d doubt we’ll see him back at the Cardiff City Stadium again, but he’s only on loan with Ross County until the end of the season so he’ll still be under contract in the summer.
Impressing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his loan in Scotland is his aim, then returning for pre-season to show he’s worth keeping, but I would’ve thought OGS will already have his mind set firmly on other targets, or at least be using these already in his plans.
This is of course assuming OGS will still be in charge at that point, and with the Malaysian Mad Man around anything is possible!

My reading of the Vincent Tan and Malky Mackay saga can be summed up in Shakespeare’s observation in Hamlet: “Something is rotten in the State of Denmark!” Tan’s sacking of both Mackay & Moody, in my view may seem harsh from the outside looking in. However, I’m inclined to think that ‘there can be no smoke without fire’! My gut feel is that some of Mackay’s & Moody’s signings were not entirely kosher or were highly suspicious or dubious when the numbers did not stack up, which incurred the owner’s wrath, hence the sackings!
Solskjaer alluded as much when he said’ “things are not what they seem from the outside.” Consequently, this saga is not about an erratic owner but a reflection of a savvy owner who refuses to be taken for a ride!
Interesting thoughts Frank Law but I’m not so sure I’d agree with them. Some of Tan’s actions don’t seem like a ‘savvy owner’.
