Former Cardiff City supremo Sam Hammam has remained in contact with the Bluebirds since the bizarre legal wranglings and accusations over the past couple of months and it has now been revealed that our mystery backers, who seemed previously out to ruin us – are warming to the club and the new regime.

It will come as no suprise to fans the reason they are now extremely nice towards is is because we have produced a squad capable of promotion, on a shoestring budget and now look likely to pay off our debts to them soon – possibly including a hefty bonus for getting promoted!

Peter Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo:

“Sam rang yesterday – he is still in touch regularly as the representative of Langston.”

“The relationship between Cardiff City and Langston, although only through Sam, is extremely amicable. He says they are impressed we have built the stadium and kept the team ticking along as we have.”

“They are pleased because, with the progress we have made, it is then the more likely that we are able to reach agreement on paying the monies owed.”

Much of what we have at the moment is due to Sam Hammam. I don’t mean that he is responsible, because we could easily have been ruined through his reckless management and stubborn nature. However, he dragged us to a point we never looked like reaching and gave belief and renewed hope to a lifeless and disillusioned support base.

Sam Hammam remains in the history of Cardiff City, and in my lifetime we are in the best position yet. Realistic promotion hopes with a handful of games to go, a young and talented squad with hunger and ambition and a derby game within a couple of days – the biggest game of the season for sure. No wonder Sam wants back in!!!
