Gunnarsson – Tan’s Become An ‘Easy Target’

Vincent Tan isn’t always someone that’s defended, my personal opinion remains very much one that he’s not done much to help his own course, but Aron Gunnarsson has done this today.

Has Tan, who I have previously dubbed ‘the Malaysian Mad Man’ with such thoughts seeing me (also said to be part of ‘the British Press’) accused of being racist due to them, become an ‘easy target?’ Gunnarsson has told BBC Sport that he feels he has.

The midfielder insists that any off the field issues aren’t being allowed to impact on the park though with focus not being lost.

‘We are trying to focus on our thing, which is playing football. That’s the only thing we can do but he’s an easy target.

‘We are focusing on things and we’ve dealt with it quite well in the last three or four months.’

Gunnarsson went on to talk about the £3.7m bonus offered to the players, he claims not know nothing about this anyway so he’s not too sure what ‘everyone’s on about’ with regards to that.

He knows how hard it’ll be to stay up but is taking comfort from some of the games coming up as he knows we’ve got some on the way that we can potentially win, at least we know we have to and we’ll ‘keep on fighting’ regardless.

Perhaps Gunnarsson does have a point about Tan but I still feel that he doesn’t do too much to help himself. His thoughts and actions are hardly likely to see too much praise and credit come his way, just last week when looking to set the record straight and make it clear he’s not ‘the villain’ he hardly went about it in such a way to change opinion.

Enough of this though it’s what we do on the pitch now and not the talking, or what’s happening, off it that matters.

As a United supporter, I thought the “green and gold” campaign was bad, but this latest diatribe by the British media against Vincent Tan violates every principle of fair play and is clearly a shiver looking for a spine to run up! For an owner on an obvious learning curve to receive this amount of flack smacks of an inquisition! You mean he has to be up to speed instantly and be totally conversant with the rules of football plus all the obscure and archaic rules of the FA even when trying to motivate his players?

The British press reflects a reflexive hostility to the man when an innocent mistake made out of genuine ignorance results in him being pilloried on the stake of racial prejudice?

It was Duncan Spaeth who said:”I know why the sun never sets on the British Empire. God wouldn’t trust a Brit in the dark!” Now how does that feel, you racists? What’s happened to Britain? You’ve prided yourself as a land where freedom reigns. Now it looks like prejudice and racial bias is the best that Britain can muster. It can be put down to “stuff happens” and people change. There’s a more scatological way to put it, but you get my drift?

Your hero, Mackay broke all club records to sign Andreas Cornelius for £8.7M when the Danish striker was being hawked around for £600,000 and NEVER started him! What does that tell you about the integrity of your hero, Mackay?

It is also on record that all 7 players signed in January costs in total less than the dud of a striker Mackay signed!

I can’t, for the life of me, understand why a police report was never made against both Mackay and Moody for the obvious breach of fiduciary duty. Doing so would set off a forensic audit by Scotland Yard where the money trail for the Double M transfers can be followed intensively and any financial misdealings would be uncovered! Contrary to popular opinion on the supposed incompetence of the work program ‘kid/painter’ it was he who apparently sussed out the financial shenanigans on the Cornelius transfer. If not for that ‘kid’, team Double M would have got away with financial blue murder!
