Cardiff City`s Paul Parry had apparently promised to give Preston North End manager Alan Irvine a definitive answer over a move to Deepdale by Monday after meeting with the Lilywhites boss last week. As yet, there has still been no official word and so far as we know – negotiations are still ongoing – or at least Parry is still mulling over the move.

For one of the quickest players in our squad, Parry is certainly dragging his heels over this one and can be doing himself nor either club any favours. Preston surely cannot be impressed with the delay and many clubs feel if a player has to think this hard about a move then they`re not committed to the move and will look elsewhere. Cardiff City too must be frustrated with targets waiting in the weeks should Parry leave. If he does stay, having given this much thought to a move away – it would also suggest that his loyalties are not 100% with the club.

I understand the dilemma Parry is in, and the upheaval it would cause him. A major move, with 1 year remaining as a Bluebird – he would surely talk this over with family. However, this situation is not exactly unbelievable and surely he would have considered his options long before now.

Patience is a virtue but this protracted transfer must end as soon as possible – we are losing valuable time to find and train a replacement while Preston must surely feel likewise.
