Cardiff City’s cultured winger Peter Whittingham has been called up bu England U-21 boss Stuart Pearce for the UEFA European U21 Championships to be held this summer.

Whittingham joined Cardiff City from Premiership side Aston Villa in January. He made an immediate impact in the side with some tricky performances and weighed in with some good goals. Although performance tailed off at the end of the season, Whitts has shown great potential and can look forward to an interesting summer of International football.

Whittingham will compete with Manchester United’s Kieran Richardson for the starting left midfield role but should get a chance to shine at some point in the competition. The winger already has 15 U21s caps under his belt and will look to add to the 3 goals he already has.

Good luck Peter and hope you come back injury free!
