New midfielder Magnus Wolff Eikrem has said that he believes our performance against Manchester City last weekend shows the belief that this squad has.

The 23 year old hasn’t been with us long, but speaking to the Official Site he explained that even though we lost the game, he feels our overall performance showed how the team we’re in this together, and their belief that we can go out against teams of their quality, looking to play football and looking to compete.

‘After a while we started creating something – we had belief and chances ourselves which are always hard to come by against Manchester City. After our equaliser, despite them taking the lead again, I felt that were a bit on top of them and looked like possibly getting the score to 2-2.’

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said basically the same thing in his after match interviews, indicating that the final scoreline really was a bit flattering on City given how we performed overall, but that wasn’t to hide the areas from the game that we need to improve on and do better in, and that seems to be the same message Eikram is trying to get across in his interview.

Lots of positives and confidence can be taken from the game, but, there is still work and improvement to be made.

On a personal note for the player, he was again delighted to get a run out in the game to build on his experience in the West Ham game as he continues getting to grips with the league so he can settle in and really start showing what he’s capable of.

It would’ve certainly made some sit up and take notice, okay we’re bottom of the Premier League but that wasn’t the performance of a side that’ll stay there against a side that could well go on and win it.
