Cornelius Deal All Signed And Complete

Andreas Cornelius has become the first signing of Cardiff City’s Premier League era, and simultaneously smashed the transfer record with a £7.5m
fee paid to FC Copenhagen as part of the deal.

The deal was kept closely guarded until last week, when news of an agreed deal was revealed by the official CCFC website, with only a medical set to be completed. That has gone through without issue, and Cornelius joins the Bluebirds on a 5 year deal.

Big, strong, dominant but with impressive pace and a deft touch – Cornelius offers the complete package. However, he is young and inexperienced at this level so will need to be give time to settle and learn before hitting top form. That said, we cannot afford to blow such a large sum on a player who isn’t going to feature heavily so he will be expected to make an impact in the short and long term.

The signing has been met with excitement from City fans, despite the hefty fee which was bound to raise some eyebrows. All eyes now on how this transfer affects our future dealings and what budget we have remaining for the midfielder, winger and two defenders we are likely to be chasing.
