Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has all but confirmed the signing of French defender Miguel Comminges when his contract runs out in the summer.

Comminges had only been with Swindon Town for a season, but made a huge impact and is seen by Jones as easily able to make the step up to Championship football.

Jones told the Echo:

‘He can play on either side. Miguel`s versatility will be very useful next season and he will bring some good depth to our squad.’

There has been no official word on the signing, but the player himself indicated the transfer was all but complete, and he will not be remaining in Wiltshire.

Primarily a left-back, he could take Tony Capaldi’s place in the side after an un-inspiring first season while Comminges and Kevin McNaughton are both able to cover both flanks.

Comminges also fits Dave Jones’ preference for full-back with pace who are able to overlap and help the attack.
