Cardiff City were given a boost yesterday as two influential Scotsman and a forgotten Northern Irishman returned to action following lengthy lay-offs.

McCormack returned to the bench during the 4-0 win at Watford and got a short run-out at the end. Even better for City is the return of Kevin McNaughton, who made his first appearance of the season after suffering ankle ligament damage.

Also back to fitness is Northern Ireland International Warren Feeney. The striker has barely featured at all for Cardiff and spent last season on loan at Dundee United. A move to Leeds United looked certain until injury struck and the move may now be re-surrected.

It was another Northern Irishman who stole the show as teenage striker Josh Magennis scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Hereford United.

While Feeney is not likely to feature for the first team, the return of McCormack and McNaughton is a big boost and will add competition to the squad with both players likely to puch for starting roles.
