Cardiff City reserves conceded a last minute penalty to draw a game they really should have won against Bristol Rovers today but the real story was the continued rehabilitation and match fitness of three injury plagued players – each of whom is now back in contention for Saturday`s home game against crystal Palace.

Riccy Scimeca, Kevin McNaughton and Ross McCormack all came through the game unscathed and will be assessed ahead of the weekend fixture – good news for the Bluebirds with all three able to compete strongly for starting positions. McCormack went close on several occasions and hit Rovers’ post.

There was also significant gametime given to fringe players Capaldi, Taiwo and Comminges who scored the Bluebirds goal after neat interplay in the first half.

Promising youngsters Aaron Morris and Jon Meades were also on show while the experienced Peter Enckelman was between the sticks.

Cardiff City`s injury problems appear to have abated and it seems likely that there could be around £15m worth of talent on the Bluebirds bench come Saturday when you consider that Joe Ledley, Ross McCormack, Kevin McNaughton, Solomon Taiwo, Gabor Gyepes and Riccy Scimeca are likely to have to be content with subs roles. The only longstanding injury worry is Kelvin Etuhu who is currently back at parent club Manchester City and could be out for some time.
