Cardiff City midfielder Solomon Taiwo has been lined up for a loan move to Colchester City with Dave Jones deciding that the former Dagenham & Redbridge man needs regular gametime to improve.

However, Taiwo was a substitute last night, and was called upon to replace Gavin Rae meaning we were without frontline central midfielders McPhail (cancer treatment), Scimeca (retired), Rae (injured) and with wingers Burke (rib) and Etuhu (ankle) also out. Add to that the longstanding hip injury Ledley is carrying and we look incredibly bare in that department.

That fact has not been long on Dave Jones however, and with a transfer embargo residing over the club until a HMRC tax bill is settled, we would be mad to lose another player in that position! Consequently, Taiwo’s loan move has been agreed, but is subject to a replacement coming in and therefore dependent on payment of the outstanding bill.

Incidentally, Taiwo looked far more confident than his last outing, a shambolic substitute appearance against Swansea City, and contributed some good direct passing, and dtermined marking in the centre of the park.
