Cardiff City forgotten man Willo Flood could make an early exit from the club and sign for Celtic after the Bhoys registered an interest in the Irishman.

The former Manchester City spent a frustrating few months with the Bluebirds and was used almost solely as a substitute. He joined Dundee United for last season and impressed in the SPL. The Terrors attempted to buy Willo over the summer but a deal could not be struck, and, with Flood again not in Dave Jones’ plans – he was sent on another year long sabbatical to Tannadice.

After two seasons in the wilderness, it always seemed Willo had no future at the Bluebirds and his contract expires at the end of this season. Dundee United are very keen on a permanent deal but would have to wait until he becomes a free agent in the summer.

A clause in his loan contract allows the deal to be terminated should another club buy his services and Willo’s SPL exploits have not gone un-noticed by Celtic manager Gordan Strachan. To land his man early, Celtic would have to part with a nominal fee to Cardiff City – thought to be around £75k.

Flood and his young family are now settled in Scotland and a return to Cardiff City looks extremely unlikely.
