First West Ham United, and now Wigan Athletic have been given the brush off by Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale as both premiership clubs tried to sign Bluebirds captain Joe Ledley.

Both offers are short of our valuation, but both would surely have been accepted this time last season. £6m from Stoke City, £5m from West Ham and most recently a £4m + Jason Koumas bid by Wigan Athletic have been rejected.

City chairman Peter Ridsdale has confirmed the latest snub and said on the subject:

“Our manager, Dave Jones, wants to keep this team together and we will do everything possible to do that.”

“We are ready to say no to any bid unless they reach outrageous levels.”

The ‘outrageous’ levels are thought to be around £7.5m – a figure that would surely test Dave Jones’ resolve and if he were offered £5m for new signings – he would surely be interested.

Other clubs are interested, but few have this kind of cash readily available. Wigan Athletic have already signed Ben Watson and may have ended their interest in Ledley. The transfer deadline draws ever closer, and Joe remains a Bluebird.

i admire ridsdale for turning down these offers for ledley and i too don’t want him to go, but sooner or later we must accept as joe WILL NOT sign a new contract. i wish he would bu it appears he wont and therefore we must consider our options!
