Cardiff City’s on-loan midfielder recieved his marching orders on his SPL debut after receiving two yellow cards.
The second caution Flood received was for simulation (diving) after a well-publicised crackdown. His manager Craig Levein said it was inevitable that someone would be sent off and Flood was the unlucky man.
He knocked the ball past a defender, outside the area, and was off balance. There are instances where a player goes down, and it is neither a foul or a dive – Flood is not that sort of player and can count himself unlucky to be dismissed.
Dundee United won the game nevertheless, courtesy of a late winner in injury time. Flood will now pick up an automatic 1-match ban.
