Cardiff City appear to have ended their interest in former Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers who now looks likely to sign for Sheffield Wednesday instead.

Cardiff, along with Ipswich Town and The Owl were interested in signing the Blackburn striker who has failed in recent seasons and in general since his early goalscoring exploits at Everton.

Cardiff ended their interest after learning of Jeffers’ wage demands – thought to be arount half a million a year. It is likely a player would have to leave to accomodate any new players but Jeffers’ desired wages would need 3 players to leave!!!

Rowan Vine, Steve Howard and Nathan Ellington have all been mooted as possible signings but Jeffers appears to be off the list now and we turn to other targets with under a week to go before the first game.
