Cardiff City’s on-loan Arsenal fullback has been missing from first team affairs for some time and manager Dave Jones has now shed some light on the matter.

After being a regular started in all the Bluebird’s games until February, Kerrea Gilbert mysteriously vanished from the matchday squads and no mention of him was made in pre-match press conferences.

He was replaced by homegrown talent Chris Gunter and Dave Jone hinted that Gilbert had been struggling in his first full season.

NOw it appears that some other factor may have influenced Gilberts disappearance form first team affairs but he made a comeback in the 1-1 home draw with Stoke, replacing Captain Darren Purse with 10 minutes to go.

The energetic fullback has made good progress this season with Cardiff City, and looks a decent prospect for the future although Jones has ruled out a permanent switch for the player.

Dave Jones spoke about Gilbert after his return:

‘Kerrea has had a problem.’

‘Nobody needs to know what the problem was, but he was not doing as well as we would have expected.’

‘He had not been doing it in training, but he has picked up well over the last week or so.’
