Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has set himself up for a fall by naming tonight’s clash against Crystal Palace as crucial for his under-fire Bluebirds.

Dave Jones wants his side to take advantage of Palace, 23rd in the table and having just appointed Neil Warnock as manager. Jones also revealed that his side will be asked to be positive and go all out for the win.

In recent weeks, players such as McNaughton, Capaldi and McPhail have been criticised for not showing enough attacking threat and failing to support the strikers and wingers.

Jones told BBC Sport:

‘We are at home and we have got to have a go at them. There’s been a lot of upheaval within Crystal Palace.’

‘They look quite solid and they will try to shut up shop.

‘But we’ve got to get our season cracking on.

‘Cardiff are not meeting my expectations and that’s the important one at the moment.’

We have been showing poor form at home with goalkeeper, defence, midfield, strikers and manager all coming in for stick and feeling the pressure. One home win all season tells its own story and we desperately need a morale-boosting win tonight.

The start and first goal are crucial, when we are on form, there are few Championship teams that can live with us and we enjoyed some good spells of pressure against Liverpool. The squad has had plenty of time to gel, and now is the time to start delivering.
