Cardiff City are reportedly targetting Craig Beattie, a striker who has fallen down the pecking order at Celtic and has probably been replaced by Chris Killen who opted to join the bhoys over Cardiff City recently.

The 23 year old is a powerful attacker who also has good pace. Beattie is also a good finisher and is seen as an ideal foil for Michael Chopra in the Bluebirds attack.

Beattie has 13 goals in 50 appearances for Celtic, although the majority of those have been from the substitutes bench. He played for Rangers as a schoolboy but joined Celtic upon his release.

Having only played in Scotland, Beattie is untried in English football and could join the list of high-profile Scottish players who fail to cut it in Cardiff’s league. Dunfermline’s Stevie Crawford is one prime example.

Cardiff’s interest has not yet been confirmed but Bhoys manager Gordon Strachan is prepared to let Beattie leave and Cardiff are frantically seeking the right striker to solve their goalscoring frailties.
