New Cardiff City striker Steven MacLean insists he is the right man to help Cardiff City to a sustained promotion push next season.
The Bluebirds were chasing a ‘traditional big number 9’ to partner Chopra up-front. They missed out on Chris Killen, and Jon Parkin – if you believe certain reports.
However in MacLean, they have an intelligent footballer, not known for aerial prowess but a clinical finisher with a good brain and able to link up with many types of player.
MacLean told the South Wales Echo:
‘I know I can score goals at Coca-Cola Championship level. I have proved that with Sheffield Wednesday.’
‘When I started games I scored goals regularly.’
MacLean also spoke to the Sheffield Wednesday official site about his sadness at leaving The Owls. He had become a popular figure and revealed he will miss the fans and club:
‘I’m sad to be going but it’s the start of a new challenge which I’m looking forward to. It has been a good three years for me – the best of my career so far.’
