Cardiff City’s in-form striker Michael Chopra has been named in the Football League team of the week after last weekends results which saw The Bluebirds comfortably overcome Preston North End by 4 goals to 1.

Michael Chopra grabbed a brace in that game including a penalty to take his season’s tally to 21, the highest in the Championship and just one behind Billy Sharpe who is top throughout the Coca-Cola Leagues.

Chopra has 9 goals in 6 games and has scored in each of the last 6 games he appeared in (he missed the 1-0 defeat to WBA due to suspension), and has recently activated a clause in his contract entitling him to improved terms.

Other players selected in the team of the week were:

Matt Murray (Wolves)
Danny Simpson (Sunderland)
Patrick Kisnorbo (Leicester)
Matt Heath (Leeds)
Gareth Bale (Southampton)
Ray Parlour (Hull)
Steve Watson (Sheffield Wednesday)
Joey Gudjonsson (Burnley)
Levi Porter (Leicester)
Dean Windass (Hull)
Michael Chopra (Cardiff)
