Cardiff City’s pre-season plans have been dealt a blow with the news that the important midfield general Riccy Scimeca has been ruled out for several weeks with a troublesome groin injury.
The former West Brom man missed the end of last season with a similar problem and, despite reporting back fit, has suffered a recurrent injury and may need an operation.
Cardiff do now have Gavin Rae to fill the foid but Scimeca is an influential player for the Bluebirds and will be missed. He will not now have a pre-season and could miss around a month.
