Cardiff City keeper Ross Turnbull has returned to parent club Middlesborough FC after an injury to Brad Jones left the club seriously short of goalkeeping options.

Although Turnbull’s loan was a season-long one, a clause was inserted into the contract allowing Middlesborough to recall the player if the Premier League gave their permission. This is only available with keepers.

Turnbull has already lost his place in the Cardiff team after some inconsistent performances. His erratic kicking, poor decisions and lack of confidence saw him labelled as ‘hapless’.

Turnbull’s absence leaves City with David Forde as understudy to Michael Oaks and the Bluebirds may turn to the loans market themselves to find another option.
