Cardiff Poor But In Good Company!

Cardiff City have been hit hard by some sloppy defending and has experienced a disappointing start to the season. Sitting down in 16th place is not where they would want to be, and after solving the problems with goalscoring that dogged us all last year and the start of this campaign, it is slack defending and poor errors which see us throwing points away.

A brief look at the table makes for interesting reading. Cardiff are down towards the bottom, but appear to be in good company: Southampton, Crystal Palace and Sheff Utd are the three teams below Cardiff in the league – all expected to feature much higher. Big spending Leicester City and Norwich City are flirting with the relegation places while perennial play-off reachers Preston North End have just 9 points from as many games.

This is a competitive and closely matched division. No-one seems likely to run away with it, and it is likely to be highly congested for much of the season. You’d have to bet against the likes of Barnsley FC and Bristol City retaining their play-off spots while Scunthorpe United and Blackpool are surely exceeding their expectations.

There is plenty of time left and Sunderland and Crystal Palace have come back from far worse positions in recent seasons. However, we now need a string of results to propel us up the table – we cant afford to let any gaps open up, especially with other promotion chasing teams in a similar position to us.

The performances are coming, goals are flowing and with a bit more luck, judgement and defensive organisation – we will start seeing plenty more victories, starting with Burnley tomorrow!

hang on just a minute, talking of big clubs at the wrong end of the table, what about the biggest club in the league currently sitting pretty second bottom!!!!!!
