Cardiff City’s Cypriot triallist impressed during Saturday’s defeat to Carmarthen Town and will now join the rest of the squad on the pre-season trip to Portugal in an attempt to win a permanent contract.

Charalambides put in a decent perfromance and looked a tricky customer on the right wing despite the Bluebirds eventually losing the game.

Cardiff are desperately short of options on the right side of misfield with only left-footer Paul Parry having played there regularly. Charalambides is an attacking player with some pace, good skills and an accurate cross – something that was missing from the City attacks last season.

The 26 year old has done well so far and has now won a place on the squad tour. He is an experienced international with Cyprus and played last season for Greek giants Panathanaikos.
