Cardiff City winger Craig Conway has been called up to the Scotland squad to face Cyprus on Friday. The former Dundee United man has previously made 2 appearances for the National side having struggled to make himself a regular in the squad since making a 2009 debut.

Conway is an important player for the Bluebirds, offering genuine width and good crossing ability. He has operated mostly on the left wing, and made a good impression with a string of steady performances.

Conway has not fuklly reached the high early season standards he set, before an injury saw him miss out. However, more gametime and the boost of a rare National call-up will surely help his form and confidence. The knowledge that he remains in Craig Levein’s plans will give him an incentive to continue impressing for the Bluebirds.

Congratulations to Conway, who joins team-mates Kenny Miller and Don Cowie in the Scotland camp. Keeper David Marshall has unfortunately been forced to withdraw through illness.
