Cardiff City midfielder Chris Burke is well known for his marauding runs down the Bluebirds right wing, confusing and toying with defenders on numerous occasions. A goal in each of his last three games now has seen the in-form winger storm up the Actim Index for the Championship.

From a relatively modest position a few weeks ago, Burke has climbed steadily and prior to Sunday’s win over Middlesborough was in a respectable 22nd place overall. However, following another fine display, and a somewhat fortunate free-kick winner, Burke has found himself rated as the fourth best player overall in the Championship and the third best midfielder behind Kevin Nolan and Peter Whittingham.

That Cardiff City have 3 players (Michael Chopra also rates highly) in the Championship is indicative of the progress we are making.

Chris Burke adds so much more than his trickery, as proven by his potent goal threat in recent weeks. His width and balance are crucial to our style, and have led to a great deal more space for the likes of Chopra and Whittingham. He can carry the ball, and is regularly able to beat his man whilst never neglecting his defensive duties and aiding Adam Matthews or Paul Quinn.

Not bad for a free transfer!
