Cardiff City’s versatile youngster Darcy Blake is a late call-up to the Wales squad to face Republic of Ireland next week following Danny Gabbidon’s pull-out through injury.
Blake had initially been placed on stand-by for the game, but has been called up by new Wales boss Gary Speed as defensive cover.
Congratulations to Darcy, and also good news for the Bluebirds with the prospect of some much needed gametime for Blake – who has found himself a regular on the subsititute’s bench with Scottish right-back Paul Quinn selected ahead of him, and McNaughton favoured as an emergency centre-half.
