Cardiff City face Hull City tomorrow looking to continue a good run of form and hopefully chase down Swansea City and QPR above us. One man aiming to prevent that is Anthony Gerrard, the Bluebirds defender on loan with the Tigers and flourishing as part of an impressive defensive unit in one of the Championship’s in-form teams.

Gerrard will be out to stop the likes of Bothroyd, Chopra and Bellamy with his determined and committed style coupled with good aerial ability and technique. However, he will also be looking to hurt his parent club at the other end – just like Seyi Olofinjana did, from a corner, for the Bluebirds against Hull City earlier in the season.

While Hudson, Keinan, Riggott, Gyepes and Blake have just one goal between them all season – Gerrard alone has three for the Tigers including 2 in the last 3 games, each time winning all three points for his team courtesy of 1-0 victories. He is always willing to fight for tha ball, and loves to attack from corners and free-kicks.

There are further warning signs for Cardiff City after former Bluebirds Steve Thompson (Burnley) and Robert Earnshaw (Nottm Forest) have both scored against us in the past week.

Just as worrying is our own defensive frailties are even more apparent when it comes to defending corners with Jon Walters, Wes Morgan, Thompson and others profiting from The Bluebirds’ lapses of concentration.

The script is written for Gerrard, who has enjoyed an impressive season to date, to haunt his manager Dave Jones. It will be up to Keinan, Hudson and co to prevent that and hopefully spur Cardiff City on to another priceless win.
