Cardiff City Struggle In Loan Striker Hunt

Cardiff City bosses Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale have so far been frustrated in their search for suitable loan options after injuries to Jay Bothroyd and Ross McCormack depleted their frontline.

With just Paul Parry (ineffective up-front on Saturday) and Eddie Johnson (failing to justify his previous reputation and wages)with significant first team experience – City must bring in a loan player or rely on youngster Jon Brown to fire the goals we seem unlikely to find within the current crop of players.

However, Ridsdale has been shcoked by some of the fees demanded by Premiership clubs with some asking up to £200k for a 2 month loan deal – even before wages, likely to be in excess of £10k per week.

Ridsdale told the SW Echo:

“It doesn`t apply to every club, but we have been shocked at the level of loan fees being asked by some. We have made a lot of telephone calls and we won`t stop talking to clubs.”

The club have an opportunity to appease fans who believe the club has failed to show enough ambition in the transfer market and a good signing here could help capitalise on an encouraging start in the league this season. We certainly need someone if we are to maintain a promotion push with Bothroyd and McCormack sidelined for a month.
