Cardiff City’s dominant defender Roger Johnson has put in a superb season and has already proven himself to be a key member of the Bluebirds squad after a £350k move from Wycombe Wanderers.

Johnson has one year remaining on his 3 year deal, but his form and commitment is surely deserving of a new contract and the player himself would welcome an offer despite attracting interest from elsewhere.

Middlesbrough were linked with a £1m+ bid for Johnson but, although flattered, Johnson is hopeful of extended his current contract, something which would undoubtedly please his manager and the fans.

‘I have another year to run. We will see what happens in the summer with the chairman and the manager.’

‘I am sure they will offer a few new deals out so hopefully I will be one of them.’

Johnson is one of the first names on the team list and his partnership with Glenn Loovens has been the bedrock to Cardiff City’s decent season. He is also a leading candidate to take up the Cardiff City captaincy should Darren Purse leave in pursuit of first team football.
