Cardiff City are due to sign a young central defender from Everton after the player passes a medical at Ninian Park.
Darren Dennehy is a 6ft 3in Republic of Ireland international to whom Everton had offered a contract but he feels Cardiff City would be a better option for him.
Chairman Peter Ridsdale confirmed the impending signing to the Echo:
“We have had talks with Everton and the player,”
“He should be with us for the start of pre-season training next week.”
Dennehy will add cover to the defensive options but will need to prove he is ready for regular first team action.
