With only a week to go before the 2012/13 season officially kicks-off, and a further few days until the Championship opener against Huddersfield Town – many Cardiff City fans are today receiving their season tickets for the new campaign.

After another play-off heartbreak, and a summer of controversial re-branding plans – Malky Mackay’s influence on the squad is becoming ever more apparant and we appear to have made some very good signings. Jordon Mutch and Kim Bo Kyung come very highly regarded in midfield, while Heidar Helguson adds experience and class in attack. Etien Velikonja is unknown as yet, but appears to be skilfull and shows promise.

The usual pre-season optimism and excitement is growing for the majority of fans, while a number have lost faith or are staying away in protest. There are more signings to come, another sure way to raise morale and expectation level – especially with Craig Bellamy odds-on to be the next and most high profile capture.

Fans will notice the blatantly obvious and entirely predictable change in the season tickets this year. Hopefully, that will fast become a side issue if Malky Mackay and his team can make a good start to the season and begin with a win against newly promoted Huddersfield Town – a tough ask.
