Cardiff City fans can expect a sudden upturn in transfer rumours, interest and possibly even definitive action after Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale have returned from their respective trips to the USA.

The Bluebirds rumour mill has certainly stepped up a gear with strikers featuring prominently in Caerdiff City related whispers.

Cardiff City have Jay Bothroyd, Michael Chopra and Ross McCormack under contrract for next season while Warren Feeney looks destined to leave. Those three plus a young striker, or loan player would likely make up Dave Jones’ striking options.

However, Ross McCormack has been linked repeatedly with a move away from Cardiff, Wolverhampton Wanderers are now considering a firm bid joining Birmingham City as potential suitors for the Scottish striker.

If McCormack were to leave, we could expect a fee of around £4m. That would provide a larrge cash injection for Jones and he would be loathed to move quickly, and leave money unspent.

Two strikers have been linked with a move into Cardiff City this week as long-time target Kenny Cooper’s name re-surfaces. The American is wanted by Dave Jones but would command a hefty transfer fee. An alternative option is a move for Motherwell striker Dave Clarkson. He is more similar to Ross McCormack in stature and position and could be considered a replacement.
