Cardiff City fans will be relieved to hear that the injury that forced Michael Chopra off in the first half against Ipswich Town is not serious and he will be in contention for Saturday’s home clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

After a lively first half, Chopra was ever so unfortunate not to score after rounding Richard Wright – MacAuley with a superb clearance. However, he was in obvious pain after half an hour and was barely able to run meaning Edddie Johnson entered the fray.

Initial fears that it was a relapse of Chopra’s longstanding Achilles problem were abated when Dave Jones revealed the injury was merely the result of a hefty challenge. Jones told the SW Echo:

“Chops went to block a clearance and the top of his foot caught the underside of an Ipswich player`s boot.”

“He had ice treatment after the game and it looks more of a soft tissue injury rather than anything serious.”

With top scorer Ross McCormack out with a hamstring injury, Chopra is an important member of our side. We know what he can bring to the club while his match sharpness has been improving steadily. Bothroyd is the ideal man to lead our line at the moment, with Chops or Rosco alongside him. That should test any Championship defence.
