Cardiff City have rejected a £1m offer from rivals Ipswich Town for impressive centre-back Roger Johnson.

Town had hoped to shore up their defence with Roger, who has enjoyed an excellent season picking up the player of the year award and forming a formidable defensive partnership with Glenn Loovens.

Sam Hammam tied up a deal (£350k) for Roger Johnson with Wycombe Wanderers but the move caused friction between Hammam and Ridsdale after Hammam paid more than the agreed amount to fend off interest from Swansea City.

That deal however, was surely one of the best in recent years and City have slapped a £3m price on Johnson.
