Cardiff City midfielder (for the time being at least) Joe Ledley will lead his country in the international friendly against Estonia at Parc y Scarlets next Friday.

Ledley took over the captaincy at the Bluebirds in the latter part of this season with regular skippers Darren Purse, Riccy Scimeca and Stephen McPhail all out of favour.

With a host of big names unlikely to feature in the short term for Wales, Toshack is looking to the future and clearly sees Ledley as a potential long-term captain for Wales. Despite his young age, Ledley is vastly experienced at club and international level and there are few rivals for the role of skipper within the current squad.

Former Bluebirds Danny Gabbidon, James Collins and Jason Koumas are all ruled out through injury although Rob Earnshaw, Chris Gunter and Aaron Ramsey all make the squad.
