Cardiff City direcetor and lifelong fan Steve Borley has opened the doors to the new state-of-the-art House of Sport, offering first class sporting facilities and is crucial to the CCFC academy.

Borley took on the building of the HoS through his company CMB engineering. Fans with better memories will remember that the construction of the facility was a key contractual obligation relating to getting permission to build our new stadium. No-one had come on board to take on the constreuction of the HoS until Steve Borley assumed this role at an EGm back in February this year – at the height of our financial turmoil.

The HoS was opened in an unofficial capacity, Cllr Nigel Howells said:

‘The House of Sport development is an exciting addition to the city’s sporting infrastructure.’

‘It will be a fantastic sports provision for the local community and provide opportunity for local clubs and schools and be accessible to the people of Cardiff.’

The facility is built on land adjacent to CCS, and at this stage is not fully completed. A second stage is due over the coming months, but the construction remains ahead of schedule. The expansion will include office space which will be available to Cardiff Council’s sports development staff.
